Ingot, Uranium
Icon Item Uranium Ingot

Category: Ingot
Status: Functional

Function:
Material used to fuel nuclear reactors

Mass: 1 kg
Volume: 0.052 L

Data Controls: [edit] [purge] (?)

Icon Item Uranium Ingot Uranium Ingots are a refined material. They are created by processing Uranium Ore in a Refinery. They are used to fuel large and small nuclear reactors. Most pre-built ships start with a small amount in their reactor.

Energy density[]

Icon Item Uranium Ingot Uranium Ingot's energy density is 1 MWh/kg

  • A single kilogramm of uranium ingot will fill 800 kWh charge to a battery of charging efficiency 80%

Each kg of uranium ingot is going to be consumed by a reactor out putting 15MW power in 4 minutes. In this case the uranium ingots are consumed every 15 seconds, 1/16 kg of uranium ingot at a time. The reactor does not work without uranium ingots inside it, so the reactor loses 15 seconds of work time everytime it runs out of uranium. So if the player puts a single kilogramm of uranium into the reactor, it will last for 3 minutes 45 seconds that is 15/16 of the time.

  • A single kilogramm uranium ingot in a large grid small reactor can fill a battery up with 750kWh charge
  • Since 20% of charge is lost charging up the battery, the uranium ingot's expected energy density is 937,5kWh / kg
  • It can be easily seen that 937,5 + 62,5 kWh equals 1MWh, and 750 kWh + 50 kWh equals 800 kWh that is because 15/16 + 1/16 part is 1 whole
  • Everytime a reactor has to stop, the player loses 62,5 kWh pure charge, or 50 kWh battery charge

Other uses[]

While uranium ingots are mostly used for power generation in reactors, they are also used in assembling a few items:
