The Terminal gives you access to several essential menus: Inventory, Control Panel, Production, Info, Factions, Comms, GPS, and Remote Access. It contains different information when accessed while seated in a grid, or while targeting a grid's terminal port, or personally as the engineer.
To open the Terminal of a grid, face a port or sit in a seat, and press "K". To open the Terminal of your engineer, press "K" while standing.
Inventory[]
- Main Article: Inventory
The Inventory tab gives you access to all the items held by this engineer, ship, rover, or station. Inventories have a limited amount of space in Survival Mode. Pressing "I" while standing as the engineer will default to opening the Inventory tab for the engineer. While seated or while targeting an access port, it will default to the Inventory tab for that grid.
Control Panel[]
- Main Article: Control Panel
Pressing K while in a cockpit or while targeting a grid terminal port will open the terminal on the Control Panel tab. The control panel gives access to all the settings of all connected, functional blocks of this grid. Non-seated Engineers also have a Control Panel tab, but it is empty ("not connected to a grid").
- You use this tab to create Block Groups whose actions you can assign to slots in your toolbar.
- You can easily filter the list of items by typing a block name into the top-left text field.
- All items in white text are directly part of this grid. Entries in shades of coloured text are subgrids.
Production[]
- Main Article: Production
The Production tab lets you control Assemblers, Survival Kits, and related production-capable devices, if any exist on this grid. Pressing K while targeting a production facility cargo door will default to this tab. If there are several Assemblers on a single ship, specific assemblers can be selected from a drop-down menu to assemble and disassemble items. Engineers also have a Production tab, but it is empty ("not connected to a grid").
Info[]
- Main Article: Info
The Info tab displays information about the grid and its blocks. It also lets you make hidden meta-information visible, such as sensor/antenna/gravity ranges, Center of Mass, Grid Pivot, and so on.
- If the engineer is accessing a large ship or station, the Convert to Ship/Convert to Station button will be available on this screen.
- If the engineer is accessing their own Info tab, then they can view the list of all owned grids and review their PCU.
Factions[]
- Main Article: Factions
Factions exist to help with PvP and with controlling who is in control of a functional block in an SE multiplayer server. In a singleplayer world, you can trade with (computer-controlled) NPC factions.
Comms[]
The Comms tab contains your chat history.
GPS[]
- Main Article: GPS
The GPS screen lets you manage and store coordinates in 3D space. Here you can, for example, create waypoints or "bookmark" your current location.
Remote Access[]
- Main Article: Remote Access Screen
The Remote Access screen lets you see grids within range, and (if you have permissions) lets you access their Terminal and control them.
