The Rocket Turret is a block in Space Engineers which can be placed on Large Ships and Stations. It is an automated defense weapon which fires Rockets, allowing it to take out even Large Ships.
Construction[]
Since the turret is moving and has big barrels, it takes 3x3x3 free blocks of space to build it. It has a large conveyor port at the bottomand it also only attaches to blocks at the bottom side.
Inventory[]
Rocket Turrets have an inventory with a volume of 384 L (with Realistic settings). It will only accept Rockets as ammunition, of which it can hold six. If connected to a Conveyor system, the turret will pull ammo from the network when its supply runs low.
Usage[]
The Rocket Turret will automatically fire upon target types defined in the Control Panel Screen. The options include meteors, players, other rockets, small ships, large ships, and stations. These types can be selected individually or in any combination. Be aware that due to their slow speed, rockets are rather ineffective against quickly maneuvering Small Ships and meteors, but come into their element when used against Large Ships and Stations.
The Rocket Turret fires in bursts of six. Contrary to the implications of its name, its rounds are unguided rockets. The rockets’ trajectory is affected by a significant bullet drop in gravity.
If two rockets come within close proximity (about 8m) they will both detonate. This allows for costly but effective and spectacular defense against incoming rockets.
As of update 01.051, turrets can be manually controlled through a cockpit. Open the Control Panel Screen and click the "Control" button, or add the Control action of the turret to your toolbar. You exit manual control by pressing 'F'.
Like other automatic turrets, the Rocket Turret’s aim will be "distracted" by Decoys because the turret AI gives decoys priority when choosing targets.

Known Issues[]
The launcher tubes are considerably spread out. After the turret verifies line of sight for one tube, it proceeds to fire four tubes, some of which can have their line of fire obstructed - which results in the turret hitting its own ship. Due to splash damage, the turret is quite likely to destroy itself.
