Pre-Built Ships are ships that are built into the base game, preloaded in Custom Games and Scenarios, or purchasable in Trading Outposts.

This overview also includes examples of the NPC ships that spawn if the player chooses to enable the Cargo Ships option, but does not include the additional ships from Random Encounters and Old Random Encounters.

For you as player, pre-built ships provide PvE and exploration content, but their main benefit is that you can learn ship building by studying their varied designs after capturing or purchasing them in Survival Mode — or safely and for free in Creative Mode.

List of Ships[]

Official Blueprints[]

Need a quick utility ship, fighter, an airlock, a bot, or maybe a whole base? Browse Keen's Official Blueprints library of pre-build ships! Subscribe to your favourites on Steam or Mod.io to load them into your game. The blueprints use the latest block shapes from 2023 and are designed in the typical two-coloured Space Engineers style.

Respawn Ships[]

These minimalist emergency ships are spawned when the player chooses to spawn upon start or upon death.

Purchasable Craft[]

You can “purchase” the following ships in game from the NPC Trading Outposts that are owned by one of the builder factions. Instead of fighting, you have to earn Space credits by completing contracts to obtain these ships.

Cargo Ships[]

These PvE ships are spawned with the Cargo Ships option enabled. They fall into three categories, according to their color scheme and themes of both construction and naming. Turrets on these ships will automatically open fire on players and their ships.

Standard Vessels[]

These ships are spawned in certain Custom Games. Some of the large vessels provide a Medical Room where the player can respawn, while the small utility vessels help you get started quickly with a Survival Kit.

Trams and Shuttles[]

The following trams and shuttles are in use in the Sparks of the Future Scenario. They showcase Timer Blocks in conjunction with the Autopilot, and other creative solutions involving artificial gravity and space flight.

VTOLs (Vertical Take-Off, Landers)[]

These vehicles are atmospheric craft designed for surface flight. In Space Engineers, these vehicles are in the same role and purpose as Aircraft and Helicopters. The majority of VTOLs rely on Atmospheric Thrusters, the game does not simulate aerodynamics. A Space craft may have VTOL capability, but an atmospheric VTOL can't be a space craft until it is turned into one.

All-Terrain Vehicles[]

ATVs are wheeled vehicles designed for maneuvering across the surface (and sometimes under the ground of) a planetary body in gravity. They include Moon rovers, Mars rovers, Scuttler ATV, cars, trucks, etc. You can drive several ATVs designed by Argonaut Industries in the Lost Colony Scenario.

Campaign Vessels[]

These vessels appear in the The First Jump Scenario and are used as props for the basic story of the game. They follow the core mechanics of the game, meaning they are completely usable outside the Campaign Missions.

Release Trailers[]

Many of the ships seen in release trailers can be downloaded from the Steam Workshop.
