The 
Interior Turret is a weapon in Space Engineers. It will seek out hostile targets within a small designated radius, which makes it a good option to protect indoor large-grid areas from intruders without shooting through blocks at passing hostiles outside as larger turrets sometimes do.
The Interior Turret requires the same ammunition as the MR-50A (formely Automatic Rifle) to fire.
Ammunition[]
Under the control panel is an area that looks like a long drawer handle, that's the inventory port that you interact with (press 'I') for manual reloading. There is no conveyor port and this turret cannot draw ammunition automatically from your base or ship.
Interior Turrets have an inventory with a volume of 64L (with Realistic settings). It will only accept MR-50A Magazine or 5.56x45mm NATO magazines, of which it can hold 320 at once.
Automatic Targetting[]
Open the Control Panel to configure the turrets automatic targetting behaviour. It is often placed in difficult to see spots where it can defend a position against characters (intruding players from non-allied factions) and small vessels, such as drones. It can also target large-grid vessels, stations, meteors, and missiles, though it cannot be relied upon to protect you against the latter in time, due to its low targetting range.
By default it fires upon hostiles and it can be configured to target neurals as well. As all automatic weapons, it will prioritize Decoys.
Effect[]
This turret deals 15 impact damage per shot, 20% of a Gatling Turret's damage. It has a high rate of fire similar to a Gatling Turret, but it is much more lightweight and compact in comparison to other turrets. It has high effectiveness as a short-range anti-personell turret against ground infantry, low effectiveness against small ships, and does negligible damage to large ships.
