While not having the most creative name, this ship does sport all the necessary equipment for planetary mining. It saves on weight by using Light Armor blocks as struts.
A minimalist outlook was behind this vessel, because as a miner gains ore it also gains weight. Planetary gravity threatens to keep a hovering vessel buried in the hole it dug. It should be stressed that the pilot should not make this craft heavier than 100,400 kg as this is a safe flying weight for this VTOL. Indeed the EasyStation's LCD warns the pilot "Be careful to not exceed total mass of 175,000 kg, flight performance not guaranteed past that weight."
Even though it can hold more mass, the Force supplied by the Atmospheric_Thrusters are not strong enough to lift the vessel out of a hole in a 1x Inventory setting. Flipping the vehicle upside down is also dangerous because the vehicle lacks upward facing thrusters for it to correct itself.
It's wise to watch this atmospheric miner's mass, and avoid digging too much. Strangely, the vessel's ship name is Drill Ship Atmosphere mk.1 when the File:Icon Item Antenna.png Antenna is switched to show name, but the File:Icon Item Beacon.png Beacon is labeled Atmospheric_Miner_mk.2. As it is the first and probable altered variant of the Atmospheric miner, the name of it in this wiki shall be Drill Ship Atmosphere mk.1 because that is how game names it.
Another problem with all vessels, made more apparent in the Drill Ship Atmosphere mk.1 is that while the inventory of a game can be adjusted, all thrusters Force output does not. Drill Ship Atmosphere mk.1 is especially prone to suffer from increased server inventory size, because it can dig more than its Atmospheric Thrusters can handle.
