Cobalt Ore is a naturally occurring uncommon ore found in planets and asteroids. It is used for thruster components and gravity generator components. The ore has a rich blue color to it. The color and texture are relatively uniform with little variation.

Cobalt Ore can be processed in a Refinery to produce Cobalt Ingots at a 24% ratio, which is to say 1000 kg of ore will produce 240 kg of ingots. Using a Refinery, 281 kg of cobalt ingot can be produced per hour, without Yield or Speed Modules, at "realistic" refinery speed. 1 kg of Cobalt ingot takes up 0.112 L of volume.

Cobalt Ore is also one of the three ores that can be processed in the Arc Furnace. In fact it would not be unwise to make a special Arc Furnace just to smelt Cobalt Ore given its adversity to smelting. Cobalt Ore is one of the harder metals to smelt in Space Engineers as of 10/11/2016. It is an uncommon resource arguably more rare than Silver Ore, but less rare than Gold Ore and Platinum Ore.

In survival, it is the most essential ore to find after Ice as Stone does not contain any cobalt, but Cobalt Ingots needed to make Gravity Generator Components, Grinder (Item), Hand Drill, Metal Grid, and Thruster Components.
