The Basic Assembler is the early game version of the Assembler. You use Assemblers in order to make components that are used up when welding during construction in Survival mode, or to recycle them (disassembly).

The Basic Assembler is a 1x1x1 large grid block with grid mass 2,208 Kg. In early game, this means that the Space Engineer’s first bottleneck for constructing the Basic Assembler might be switching from a small grid (such as Drop Pod with Survival Kit) to a large grid to level up production.
Usage[]
Ensure the Basic Assembler has enough power: It has a minimum required power input of 1.00 kW (idling), and a maximum power requirement of 280 kW.
In early game, the Basic Assembler is typically used together with the Survival Kit and the Basic Refinery. Either of these blocks can output the ingots that the Basic Assembler needs as input.
- Either fill the Basic Assembler with materials (such as ingots), or conveyor its ports to a (Basic) Refinery or Survival Kit.
- Open the Production screen in the Terminal.
- Choose one of two modes, Assembler or Disassembler, and queue up items from the list.
Find details in the Production article.
Progression[]
A Basic Assembler cannot create advanced components such as gravity generator components, reactor components, superconductor components, explosives, and Thruster Components. In the category of consumables, it cannot create missiles, and in the category of tools, it cannot create proficient and elite tools. The upgraded block which can produce those item is the Assembler.
