The Assault Cannon is a versatile static weapon block for small-grid ships. It’s automatic variant is the Assault Cannon Turret. Assault Cannons are the slower and bigger sibling of the Autocannons.
The multi-role Assault Cannon delivers a powerful punch and excels in its role as a primary weapon on smaller craft, and a secondary weapon on even the most massive vessel.
With 6 seconds, the Assault Cannon's reload time is in the middle range. Its shells do 4000 penetration damage per shot, but it can only reload one shell at a time. The trajectory is quite far and can extend up to 1400 metres because the projectiles are a bit heavier and faster, and less affected by bullet drop.

The Assault Cannon's size is 1x1x9 which makes it the longest ship weapon, and not an easy fit on small-grid fighters or drones. It has three small conveyor ports to reload ammunition from the conveyor system.

In the game files, the Assault Cannon is called "Medium Calibre Gun".
If you measure the caliber of the cannon barrel, using a 0.5 meter small block as a reference, the caliber of the Assault Cannon is 5.5cm, or 55mm.
